Case Study - Rok : Leading the Way

Client Issue

Rok, a national build maintenance and refurbishment business invited redsky to design and deliver a series of twelve month leadership programmes for existing and emerging leaders. Rok operates with a relatively flat management structure, which means that the leaders throughout the business need to be inspirational, visionary and empowering.

The 'Leading the Way' Programme developed leaders within Rok by:

  • Providing a solid foundation in knowledge, skills and techniques of leadership
  • Enabling leaders to recognise and understand their own leadership style
  • Demonstrating the link between Rok culture, KPIs and Health & Safety requirements
  • Ensuring leaders maximised their impact in the work place

Solution

The twelve month programme consisted of:

  • A series of one day workshops
  • Individual 360° feedback
  • One to one coaching sessions
  • The completion of a variety of work based projects
  • Line manager assessment and support

During the programme both the economy and the business went through an enormous amount of change, at times very turbulent, yet the leaders seized this opportunity to put into practice the skills they had gained by leading change, communicating effectively, inspiring, involving and motivating teams and achieving great results.

End Positive Outcome

At the start of the programme candidates are measured by their manager, colleagues and teams on their performance across leadership competencies. This process is repeated at the end of the programme to measure the differences in leadership behaviour, observed by others. In Rok the average improvement in leadership behaviours across all leadership competencies was a 20% rise.
