THE CHALLENGE


In 2013 Fulcrum embarked on a major programme of change and identified a need to equip its business leaders with change management skills and an ability to adapt and evolve to service a customer focussed culture. Crucial to the success of the change programme was effective collaborative working across departments and a culture of devolved decision making.

It was vital that this did not affect staff morale or confidence and that the company gave individuals the skills and attitudinal tools to deal with the change so that the business could continue to be flexible in the face of future opportunities and challenges.

THE SOLUTION


The Redsky programme, Leading the Way, was designed to develop leaders within the organisation, to ensure that proactive and effective management of issues and people took place at all levels in order to deliver excellent customer service.

A total of 36 managers and 24 employees  across the business enrolled onto the programme, with ‘high-potential’ individuals also benefiting from additional business coaching. The development programme was led from the top, with the company’s Executive Leadership Team the first group of leaders to commence the programme.

The programme was split over five modules, covering behavioural change, self-awareness, leadership styles, influencing skills and strategic thinking and focused on understanding leadership, maximising operational effectiveness, leading management through change, communicating and informing through impact and building and maintaining high performance.

The Outcome


The programme was a vital contributor to business stability and achievement during a period of organisational change.

It received excellent feedback and enabled managers, whose leadership skills were underutilised in their past roles, to be afforded greater opportunity to influence wider business decision-making through leadership of cross-functional or temporary project teams.
